IRS Guidance on Return of an Economic Impact Payment (EIP)
We have received many inquiries on returning funds from the IRS issued Economic Impact Payments (EIP) specifically in the event of funds being issued to the deceased. Listed below is guidance from the IRS on how to return funds:
Q41. What should I do to return an Economic Impact Payment (EIP)? (added May 5, 2020)
A41. You should return the payment as described below.
If the payment was a paper check:
- Write "Void" in the endorsement section on the back of the check.
- Mail the voided Treasury check immediately to the appropriate IRS location listed below.
- Don't staple, bend, or paper clip the check.
- Include a note stating the reason for returning the check.
If the payment was a paper check and you have cashed it, or if the payment was a direct deposit:
- Submit a personal check, money order, etc., immediately to the appropriate IRS location listed below.
- Write on the check/money order made payable to “U.S. Treasury” and write 2020EIP, and the taxpayer identification number (social security number, or individual taxpayer identification number) of the recipient of the check
- Include a brief explanation of the reason for returning the EIP.

Recognizing Debby Phillips
The Board of Directors and management of Davis Trust Company are pleased to recognize the dedicated service of Debby Phillips who will be retiring on March 31st, 2020.
Debby began her employment in the Davis Trust Company Trust Department in March of 1985. She then went on to the Loan Department where she worked her way up from Loan Clerk to Loan Officer and she is currently serving as Vice President of Loans and our Branch Manager. Debby is a graduate of Elkins High School and she holds an Associate’s Degree from Davis & Elkins College. She has been previously recognized as the Young Business Woman of the Year and is a devoted member of the First Church of Christ in Elkins.
Debby and husband Brad are looking forward to traveling and spending more time with their three children and eight grandchildren; daughter Emily Phillips of Elkins and her three children, Isaac, Jace, and Kaitlin, step-son Bradley Phillips and wife Megan of Wheeling and their three children, Claire, Benjamin, and Anderson, and step-son Andrew Phillips and wife Berea of Chesapeake and their two children Colton and Wyatt.

Davis Trust Company Announces the Promotions of Three New Officers
The Board of Directors of Davis Trust Company are pleased to announce the following employees have been promoted to newly created officer positions effective February 1, 2020.
Alesia Kesling, ATM Coordinator, has been promoted to the position of Card Operations Officer. In her new position she will be responsible for managing the Bank’s ATM network as well as training and overseeing bank personnel working with the Bank’s ATM network and related hardware.
Alesia has been with Davis Trust for over 40 years. In addition to her current position, she started her career in the Bookkeeping Department where she worked as a Bookkeeper and also as a Proof Machine Operator. Later she worked as a back-up General Ledger Clerk and also served our customers on both the main teller line and in the drive-thru.
She and her husband Rob live in Beverly and have one daughter, April, a former member of the WVU varsity cheerleading squad and a recent masters degree graduate of WVU who works as an HR Consultant for Marathon Petroleum and resides in Robinson, Illinois.
Heidi Bray, Accounting Clerk, has been promoted to the position of Digital Banking Officer. In her new position she will be responsible for managing and developing the Bank’s digital banking channels as well as training and overseeing bank personnel working with these platforms.
Heidi started with the Bank in 2013, and in addition to her current position, she has also worked on the teller line and as a back-up Digital Banking Clerk. She is a 2013 graduate of West Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Heidi and her husband, CJ reside in Elkins.
Adriana Channell, Marketing Specialist, has been promoted to the position of Marketing Officer. In her new position she will be responsible for developing and managing the overall marketing program for the Bank.
Adriana started with the Bank in 2017 as a part-time teller at the Beverly Pike Branch. She was promoted to her current full time position in 2018 and transferred to the main Bank office. She is a 2013 graduate of Davis & Elkins College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. Adriana and husband Nick have two children, Daniel & Claire, and reside in Glenmore.
President Hugh Hitchcock stated we are pleased to announce these individuals as new officers at Davis Trust Company and look forward to their assistance in helping to move the Bank forward.
